Rumpelstiltskin (2025) – uusi versio

Juoni lyhyesti:
Elokuva perustuu Grimmin veljesten tarinaan, mutta käsittelee sitä synkemmin. Tarinassa nuoren sepän tyttären ystävä tekee sopimuksen metsän pahuuden olennon kanssa: olento muuttaa oljen kullaksi vastineeksi tytön tulevasta lapsesta. Myöhemmin, kun hän on kuningatar ja äiti, olento palaa tehdäkseen sopimuksensa todeksi, ellei hän voi arvata olennon nimeä.

Pääteema: äidin rakkaus, mystiikka ja sopimuksen kirous → esitys on synkempi ja kauhuelementtein värittynyt kuin perinteinen satu.

Rumpelstiltskin (1995) – 90-luvun versio

Juoni lyhyesti:
Modernissa 1995 version tarinassa demoni­olento Rumpelstiltskin vapautuu pienestä talismaani­hahmosta ja vaatii naisen vastasyntyneen lapsen sielun palkkioksi toiveen toteuttamisesta. Päähenkilö ja hänen ystävänsä yrittävät pysäyttää olennon ennen kuin se saa lapsen.

Erikoista tässä versiossa: se yhdistää Grimmin sadun elementtejä moderneihin kauhu- ja seikkailukohtauksiin, mutta ei noudata satujuonta kirjaimellisesti.

Minä pidin 1995 version Tittelintuuresta hiukan enemmän! Siinä oli keksitty uusi moderni miljöö tuttuun satuun. 2025 versio on enemmän uskollinen originaali sadulle. Mielestäni kuitenkin 1995 versio on enemmän kauhu- painotteinen uuden version fantasia näkökulmaan verrattuna! Joten 1995 vuoden versio voittaa vertailussa! 

Voisin 2025 versiolle antaa 2,5/5 Tähteä ja 1995 vuoden versiolle 3/5 Tähteä

Minkälainen on alkuperäinen Rumpelstiltskin-lastensatu?

Alkuperäinen sadun versio Grimmin kokoelmasta kertoo:

• Myllykoulun tyttärestä, jonka isä valehtelee osingoista.

• Hänet suljetaan huoneeseen, jossa hänen pitää filata olkea kullaksi tai hän kuolee.

• Pieni olento auttaa häntä vastineeksi hänen ensimmäisestä lapsestaan.

• Kun lapsi syntyy, olento vaatii palkkion, mutta äiti saa pitää lapsensa, kun hän arvaa olennon nimen: Rumpelstiltskin.

Tämä alkuperäinen satu on kevyt, maaginen ja opetuksellinen satu, sopiva lapsille, eikä siinä ole kauhua tai väkivaltaa samassa mittakaavassa kuin elokuvaversioissa.

Once upon a time there lived a poor miller who had a beautiful daughter. One day, wishing to impress the king, the miller boasted:

“My daughter can spin straw into gold.”

The king, who loved wealth above all else, ordered the miller to bring his daughter to the palace at once.

That very night, the king led the young woman into a small room filled with straw. He gave her a spinning wheel and said:

“If by morning you have not spun this straw into gold, you shall die.”

The door was locked, and the girl was left alone. She sat down and wept, for she did not know how to spin straw into gold.

Suddenly, a strange little man appeared. He was small and oddly dressed.

“Why are you crying?” he asked.

She told him of her terrible fate. The little man smiled and said:

“What will you give me if I spin the straw into gold for you?”

She offered him her necklace. He took it, sat at the wheel, and before morning the room was filled with shining gold.

When the king saw the gold, he was delighted—but his greed grew even stronger. He led the girl to a larger room filled with even more straw.

“Spin this into gold by morning,” he commanded, “and you shall become my wife.”

Again, the girl wept. The little man appeared once more.

“What will you give me this time?” he asked.

She gave him her ring, and again the straw was spun into gold.

Still not satisfied, the king took her to a third room, larger than all the others.

“If you spin this straw into gold by morning, you shall be queen,” he said.

The little man returned—but this time, the girl had nothing left to give.

“Then promise me your firstborn child,” he said.

Terrified but desperate, she agreed.

Once again, the straw was spun into gold. The king kept his word and married her, and soon she became queen. In time, she bore a beautiful child.

One day, the little man appeared to claim his reward.

The queen begged him to spare her child. After much pleading, he relented.

“I will give you three days,” he said. “If you can guess my name, you may keep the child.”

The queen sent messengers throughout the land to learn every name they could find. On the first two days, she guessed many names—but none were correct.

On the third day, a messenger returned with strange news. While passing through a forest, he had seen a little man dancing around a fire and singing:

“Today I bake, tomorrow I brew,
The next day I’ll have the queen’s child too!
For no one knows, and no one guesses,
That my name is Rumpelstiltskin!”

When the little man appeared that day, the queen pretended to guess once more.

“Is your name Conrad?”
“No.”
“Is your name Harry?”
“No.”

Then she said softly:

“Is your name Rumpelstiltskin?”

The little man screamed in rage.

“The devil told you that!” he cried.

In his fury, he stamped his foot so hard that it went deep into the ground. He grabbed his other leg with both hands—and tore himself in two.

And so the queen kept her child, and Rumpelstiltskin was never seen again.
